U21 Football: St.Mary's 4-08 Rostrevor 0-07
St.Mary's put in a good performance against a sharp Rostrevor team in Liatroim. St.Mary's played with the wind in the first half and got of to a great start when Patrick Doyle's shot found the back of the net, this was proceeded by points from Kieran Doyle and Darren O'Higgins before Ruairi Laughlin found the back of the net from a penalty to leave it 2-02 to no score at half time. Credit must go to the St.Mary's full back line (M.McAnulty, R.Doyle F.Kelly) who worked tirelessly to keep Rostrevor scoreless. Rostrevor started the second half in more determined fashion and quickly got themselves on the score board reducing the score to just three points however St.Mary's used their superior physical presence and fitness levels to their advantage against the wind especially in the middle sector with Owen Clarke, Ruairi Laughlin, Conor Cunningham and Gerard McAnulty turning the game back in St.Mary's favour as they scored another two goals through Kieran Doyle and points from Gerard McAnulty, Ruairi Laughlin (2), Conor Cunningham, Karl McMullan and Darren O'Higgins respectively.

Congratulations to the 26 Liatroim camógs who participated in the All-County u8 and u10 Camogie Blitz in Portaferry on Saturday last, which heralds the end of the 2011 season for the Liatroim girls.

The club fielded two teams in each age-group and all players excelled in demonstrating the array of skills they have been practicing throughout the year.

Many thanks to the managers of all teams for their cooperation and enthusiasm: John Brown, Catherine Collins, Sarah-Jane Collins, Mo Mac, Joe Morgan, Myles Flannigan, Tom McAleenan and Katie Churchman.

Thanks also to all other parents who have worn the management bib at blitzes during the season, and especially to Dearbhla Magee who had athletics committments on Sat and was unable to attend the blitz in Portaferry.

Many thanks to Cearúilín Uí Chléirigh and Nathan Clarke who took charge of the jersies throughout the year, and also to The Highwayman for providing the transport on Sat.

The parents and guardians of these young players have been most supportive during the 2011 season, and this goes a long way towards providing quality coaching.

In order to continue to provide top class coaching and match experiences for the u8 and u10 camogie players, it is absolutely essential that parents continue to be involved and are at the very heart of coaching at this stage of their child's development as a sportsperson.

To this end, a meeting will be held on Tues 4th Oct. at 7.30pm in the Function room for the parents/guardians of players who are eligible to represent the Fontenoys in Camogie at U8 and U10 level in 2012.

Congratulations once again to three young camógs, Erin McAleenan, Caitlin Davidson and Annie Ní Chunagáin, who earlier in the season collected a massive amount of funds which went towards the purchase of a new set of jersies for the u8 and u10 camógs. The three girls are pictured each receiving a £30 gift voucher for Club merchandise from members of the management team.

Liatroim U14 Camogie team celebrate their Down Camogie Championship success on Sunday after they overcame Clonduff 5-4 to 3-5.

Three goals either side of half-time helped the fontenoys to glory.
